Hi, I'm searching for a male GBR as I have 2 female already. I did have a male from the LFS, however he didn't appear active and was pale. They did have eggs and he was diligent protecting them, but after one day he died suddenly. This was 3 weeks after purchase.
I would prefer to get a ram from a breeder rather than an unknown place at the LFS when i don't know what they have been exposed to or been through. Does anyone know of a breeder? I live in Toronto, Canada.

Thx:)

Hi FF

Any luck finding the GBR you were looking for in Toronto?

Here in the UK, most Rams sold at LFS are bred in South East Asia, and 'shockingly bad' in quality. By the sound of your post, this could also be true in Canada I'm guessing?

You are wise to seek stock from a breeder or from someone who imports wild rams from South America (usually Colombia). I'm sure with a little digging on the web, you should be able to find someone who can supply you better quality Rams in Canada.

Good Luck

Mark

Thanks Mark,

You are right the lfs have poor quality here too as far as i can tell. I spoke yesterday to a cichlid breeder who doesn't have german rams but was able to direct me to a place that may have some good quality ones, plan on checking them out this weekend. I will ask where they are from. Cross the fingers.

Good luck with that FF, and would love to know how you get on. Speak to as many hobbyist breeders as you can, they are the best source of information I have found, and even if they don't have stock, they usually know someone who might.

If you do find some good quality stock, maybe you could post a pic on here in the future... always love to see pics of Rams!

Best wishes

Mark
