Hi,Ive released the female today but all she does is sit there and does nothing. The males bubblenest is very small(about 2inch by half an inch) but he just builds under it so it gets thicker not larger. She has breeding bars and the ovipastor thingy.Ive bred her beofre with a male vt but he ate the eggs.Whats going on?
I let her swim round in the tank yesterday for a little bit and they nearly wrapped. They got into position then stopped.

How long did you try them together? Her bars are vertical, right? I would say that if her bars are vertical, and he's still working on the bubble nest, to leave them for awhile. I would leave them for a couple days even, if you have to, as long as they are doing their thing, which is sounds like they are. Sometimes it takes days for them to spawn. Are you sure there aren't any eggs under there? Sometimes they can surprise you :shifty:

i put her back in to chimney last night. And let her out after school.I want to watcht hem spawn because i missed them last time.and yes the verical.

yes shes got vertical bars and ive been watching them. When i went to school i put her in the chimney and when i went to bed.

As far as the eating eggs thing, the males tend to eat the eggs that have something wrong with them, it's like an instinct. I would keep her with the male and let nature take it's course, as long as she doesn't have stress bars. I know you want to see them spawn, and I DON'T blame you! It's such a cool thing to see, but I would let them do it in their own timing. You may want to try the styrofoam to help him build a larger nest. I know mine built a decent one with the foam, but now that he has eggs, he's making a HUGE one, probably to protect the eggs. Because it sometimes takes days, I would leave them together as long as she doesn't have the horizontal stripes. And keep checking for eggs! Keep me updated! :good:
