So my male and female are currently in the breeding tank.
They were both conditioned for 2 weeks prior to this.

These are the 2 I have chosen:

Male - Steve

Female - Stella

(these photos were taken before conditioning..)

I chose these 2 because of the colour the fry would be if they spawned..
I was wondering if they didn't spawn, I would try another of my conditioned females, Bertha:

That photo doesn't really show off her 'true' colours, but she's a blue/green with a small amount of red on her fins.
I'm horrible at Betta genetics - what colour fry would I get from spawning Steve and Bertha? :p

hi there. basically blue and red. black is dominant. red is dominant, blue is dominant....to everything else. the first female is cellophane, which should be recessive to all the colours in the male you have chosen. so the fry should be all like dad. Steve is a VT which is also dominant over everything, so even if the female carry other tail varieties the VT "should" win, unless by some miracle a process called homologous recombination has occured ( which is a very very rare occurance)and you may get a delta tail from the second female choice offspring. I cant tell what tailtype the cellophane female is.Hope you already have sorted out new owners, as VT are so common you may have difficulty getting new homes for them. You would have been better off choosing unusual tailtypes and colour types.
the dominance colour thing is explained very well on the web. just do a search on google for betta genetics. the first in the list is usually a really good explaination

this guy has a great way of explaining it. if you have any questions pm me to explain further if you need me to x ( I'm a geneticist)

+1 :) most of the fry from ur male and bertha will prob be red & blue considering thats the colors most between them :) my betta fry mum is blue purple and red, and the dad is red, some babies are going red as they are see through orange, some are going black and a few are going silver :)

there will be the odd one or two with stellas colors but not very many :)
