I have a 20 gallon tank and about ten to 15 fish in it. it includes a few guppies(fancy and feeders), mollies, 2 platies, and 2 swordtails. I am trying to breed some. I will try to get a picture on here soon, but I think I have 2 pregnant guppies (almost sure), but I am not sure about my platy female and my female molly? The female guppies have the gravid spot with two of them getting slightly large. IS THIS FOR SURE a pregnancy? another question I have is , will some of this different species breed together, if yes which ones? all i know about is platies and swordtails breeding at times. I do have males of every species listed except mollies because my pet store doesn't have any at the moment. I plan to use most of the fry as feeders for my clown fish and Angels (they lov'em) in my bigger tank so I just started monday and I would like to get this movin'. THANKS :dunno:

If they have a gravid spot, yes, they are definitely pregnant. It's actually the frys' eyes, so she has babies inside her! For your Platy and female Molly...what color are they? In some colors it can be hard to see the gravid spot. Or they may not be far enough along yet for it to show. :)

The only fish that you have that would breed together would be the Platies and Swordies. Mollies and Guppies can breed, but it's pretty rare.

Oh yes, and you might want to get a couple more females for the Platies and Swordies...the best ratio is 1 male per 2-3 females, otherwise there can be stress and aggression problems on the one female. Though I worry this will overstock your tank, because it looks pretty full already....do you have any other tank you could split them up into?

Have fun, and best of luck breeding!

My Platy is a beautiful see through sunset platy that i call pumpkinseed because the 2 black marks on the side of her head make her face look like a Jack-o-lantern's face. I am sure she is not pregnant.

My Mollies are the cheep 99 cent mollies at my LFS. They are not that big so I won't call it now, I can wait. That's all breeding really is waiting while having fun during the waiting.

I will probably send most of the babies to the LFS if they will take them. If not I will give some to my neighbors that I gave some black convict babies to when I was breeding them.

I have another question. Will Guppies get a see through peachish colored spot in front of the gravid spot? THANKS AGAIN  :hyper:

I can't see the picture... -_-

And sometimes Guppies will get a peachish color, if they are a light or orange color. :)

And Pumpkinseed sounds adorable.

There now it's up. The sunset is off to the right side and my largest guppy is in the middle. 2 of my mollies are on the left but i am almost sure they are not pregnant. My male fancy guppy is to the far right.

Yes, she definitely looks pregnant! Is there anyway you could post the picture on here? Because it's a little hard to see.

On your Guppy? Probably a few weeks. Also, are you sure you have a female Molly? Because they both look male to me in the picture...but it could be the angle on the second one.

Pretty Male Guppy you have too.
