Breeding Guppies

How do i tell if my guppy is pregnant...i know the gravid spot grows large and she looks for hiding places but i never could get a good picture of a pregnant guppy and when they come out do they swim up to the floating plants or down to the java moss i have

Mine went up to the top, but I didn't have real plants.
