Hey, i'm new to this forum. I'm also pretty new to fishkeeping.

I have myself a male Black Moor called Whoopi and a female Chocolate Oranda called Goldie in a small capacity plastic tank. I noticed about a month or so ago, Whoopi started cahsing Goldie around the tank, nuzzling her anal fins. I thought they were just fighting because they both got really fat and hardly ahve any room!

But then about 2 weeks later, I noticed the plastic plants, filter, and the gravel were covered in tiny eggs. Obviously, they were muching on them, so I bought another bowl and moved the fish out. I wasn't sure if he had fertilised the eggs, so i've been keeping an eye on both tanks.

I bought some aerating tablets and use them every 2 days in the tank with the eggs - but they don't seem to have done anything, and its been almost two weeks since I moved the fish out. Whoopi still has his white spots that they apparently get when "in heat" (for want of a better phrase!) and he's still chasing Goldie around the tank.

What should I do? I'd like to get them breeding and hatch these eggs if I can, but some of them have taken on a cloudy colour. Can an Oranda and a Black Moor mate anyway?

Any advice would be great,

Cheers,

Amy

If the eggs were fertilised then they would have hatched in less than 3 days, so these ones arent fertilised.
Im a bit worried about their home. You say its a small plastic tank, and fancy goldfish need at least 10 gallons each, and more as they grow.

To successfully keep fry you are talking about hundreds of eggs which ultimately need huge amounts of water to live.

I realised as they got bigger that their home was too small, so I have bought myself a 2ft long x 1ft wide x 18" high glass aquarium for them. They will be alot happier in that! So, these eggs then - should I rinse them away with the water?? Thanks for the tips. xx

Yes, best to get rid and clean out where they have been.
