Hi
Following on from temperatures and PH, and whether it affects the sex of the fry.
I was talking to a guy at Maidenhead aquatics. We were talking about tail types, breeding etc... He wondered whether there was a link between what we feed our bettas and what sex fry we get??? Dunno, was my reply, LOL, very proffesional answer i know. But i thought, well most of the people that breed i know, condition on betta pro and bloodworm? He said that he had seen a documentary about birds, i know they're not fish but, they had done some tests on different pairs. Some allowed to feed normally and some only fed on non-fatty, lower protein foods. They concluded that the pairs who were fed the restricted food produced a higher percentage of females.
Hmmmmm,??? I wonder if this would transfer to fish? Will try in with the spawn after next as we are already conditioning the next pair.
Going to be interesting though.
