Someone tell me if i'll be able to breed my convicts If i've got a small Rainbow shark[5cm] and a small black shark[8cm] and and a [5cm] convict Male and the breeding pare are both [3cm] will my sharks eat the convict eggs if hey have some would the convicts be able to protect the eggs from the sharks

THe convicts will look after the fry they should be ok ive had convicts breed and protect the fry in the same tanks as an oscar, texas and green terror and a few plecos

the sharks will probably get a few but altho they have shark in there names they dont seem that keen on eating live food.

the male cons probably the biggest threat but the pair should be able to handle him.

how big is your tank?

I wouldnt reconmend breeding cons if you tank if smaller than 50gallons with tank mates.

Even though it can be done you are only askng for trouble.

Even in my 100 gallon 5ft tank my cons beat on my jags, oscar etc

Yeah convicts are nasty blighters and will be even more so in guarding their eggs/fry, and it is pretty certain that their tankmates will take a beating. Breeding convicts isn't hard though, and if the conditions are right, I would be surprised if they didn't.

well id probably start rehoming fish then.

thats probably big enough for the pair n its own but the other fish have no where to hide.

mite not be so bad when there small but when they grow like my alpha male there pretty destructive aswell as the attitude.

You will likely see TREMENDOUS aggression from your breeding convicts toward the other fish in the tank. They are extremely aggressive during breeding. Rehoming the other fish, or getting rid of the breeding convicts may be necessary.

The convicts will most likely kill all the other fish in your tank..

I would get rid of everything other then the pair of convicts, or get rid of the pair..
