I'm considering setting up a small tank to breed brineshrimp as a food source for my community tank.

Anyone had any experience in this kind of thing? Any comments appreciated as always. :good:

I've bought the small starter kit at Petsmart. Can't find an image for you of what it looks like. However, the combination i've used is 1 quart of water with 1 teaspoon of brine shrimp eggs with 2 tablespoons of ocean salt. The salt for marine aquariums. It works great and depending on the temperature they hatch in 18 to 24 hours. :good:

Thanks Fishkies, after hatching, do the brineshrimp breed, or do you have to keep adding more eggs to get more shrimp??

ive never done it but ive talked to people about it. apparently they will breed but its keeping them alive long enough to do it. i think theres some good info if you google breeding brine shrimp

normally you feed them even before they have any chance to breed. i go by batches. eggs -> baby brine -> fed to fishes, and then new eggs and so on..
