Plastic breeding box? Or net breeding box?

I guess you could soak it in almost boiling water, but definitely don't use bleach, if you have any of the fish disinfectant that you can get then use that.

its a plastic floating box... rinse it out with warm water??

if it needed washing before use i think it'd say on the box or in the instructions? :good:

never rinsed mine!

Clean it in near boiling water; no detergent, use melafix or aquatic disinfectant if you have it or you could use the solution for cleaning plastic plants.

The previous poster is right though, it isn;t really necessary, but if you want to be safe then by all means go ahead.

Cleaning with pure bleach will work. Then rinse it out thoroughly a lot and dry it out. Once it's completely dried, there should be nothing left but salt. Then rinse it again.

You can use bleech if you know what you are doing. I bleech my tanks every 12 months (without the fish in them obviously!)

All you do is add a few drops of bleech to a large volume of water and leave it to soak for a few hours. Then Rinse the breeding trap with copious amounts of water, before adding it to a bath of aqua safe and water. I normally add twice the reccommended dosage of aquasafe and i leave it for an hour to soak OUTSIDE! Apparently the suns UV rays can also remove the chlorine in the bleech as well as the aquasafe. Then remove it from the bath and let the sun dry it. Now its ready to use.

Many people on this site use bleech, esecially when cleaning out ceramic co2 diffusers. But remember, use your common sence, bleech can kill fish so dont ever put it in your tank unless advised to.

Also, theres no need to clean out the breeding trap. Just rinse it under running water will do fine.

I think the key phrase is 'if you know what you are doing'; I have used bleach once, when I was very inexperienced and I managed to kill a whole tank full of endlers and Skiffia; the horrible feeling when I realised what I had done is still fresh in my mind and the reason why I have not used bleach since. Even though I am more experienced.

However, the instructions from Neo8223 looks spot on and I may well give it a go myself.

thanks guys... ended up just rising it under warm water as needed to put a preg mollie into before she popped lol

I usually rinse mine in old tank water, while I'm doing a water change.

I've never had any problems doing it that way. :good:

I nomally don't like the use of the breeding box, many prego females died of stress.
