Is it important to have put a pregnant molly or platy in it while giving birth or it may stress them Should i use it only for putting the babies in it? 10x

You should only really use it for small numbers of fry in the short term. Only put expectant pregnant livebearers like mollys in such things only if they are getting severly harrassed by other fish in the tank while giving birth.

i would advise you not to use breeding boxes/nets. they put way to much stress on the pregnant femal and may caus here to abort. insted use a seperat tank and put the female in there and when she is done put here back in the main tank. you are going to need another tank for the fry anywase as my platys mollies and swordtails all give around 20-40 fry per fish. and you cant raise 20 platys or mollies in a breeding box.

the only reason i use breeding traps is to put fish who get bullied in it

but unless you want ALL the fry to live id put them in but with fish like livebearers i wouldnt bother as they will keep the males sperm inside them for a couple of months and can have fry off that.

if you are planning on keeping fry then why not keep them all? the way to rais fry sucsesfully is to keep them all and cull out the week/ underdeveloped ones and raise the rest.
