afternoon. im planing to breed some bettas. 1 green, 1 blue and 1 red. im going to obv house each seperately but was thinking of the best way to so it..... i wasnt sure on where to put this thread so if its wrong then please place in correct area. option 1 is to buy individual tanks. 5.5l with led lighting aprrox £35. or option 2 which is to buy a proper tank, get under gravel filteration and t5 lighting and section off the tank into 4 parts and have 1 of the parts for when they hatch etc.. what do u think is the best option to go with and has any one done any thing simular???

Thanks

Hi there.....So you want to breed bettas great! :good: What I have done to all of my pairs is to section off a 10 ltr tank. I made 3 compartments and had the filter in the area that is going to house the fry. I use clear polycarbonate as dividers and I can take them out when I want to breed a pair, and add them when I want separation. I don't have them dead tight but not loose where the fry can escape and get eaten by one of the parents. If you aren't on a strict budget having a spare tank or two -
will be good because when the fry get bigger you need to separate them too. So you can either section off the tanks or buy individual ones....but you know what that means....you won't be able to stop at one and pretty soon you will end up with lots of tanks as I have done and even though I've section my tanks Im still looking for more room to house my fish....it never stops. It's a lot of fun :)

Thanks very much, yh thats what ill prob do. ive heard there easy to breed?

Yeh they can be easy to breed I still get a few hiccups but its the fry stage, keeping as many alive so they can reach adulthood...now that can be a bit of hard work  But its a lot of fun and joy. Let us know what size tanks you get and good luck with the breeding :good:
