Hi all. I have been breeding fish now for about 3 years and decided to buy some balloon mollies. I wanted to know if by any chance the balloon mollies have the same gravid spot like the guppies. And if so, do they fatten up even more? Cheers

They do fatten up but as you can imagine its not as noticable as guppies and as far as Im aware they dont get a gravid spot. When I had them the bred unintentionally and I just saw fry in the tank, it was only then I noticed the female was a little smaller although I hadnt really noticed her getting bigger to be honest.

They don't tend to get a gravid spot, because they have thicker skin. It's also hard to tell when they are pregnant, but they WILL get a bit fatter. It's usually best to compare them to a male, and see how much fatter they are.

Other then that, I'd just say read the pinned topics. Good luck. :)

Usually between 20-100....it depends on the size of the female, age of the female, and how many she feels like having.
