Hello, I have a breeding pair of Angelfish who have spawned many times in my community tank, and they have gotten to the point where their fry have learned to swim, but then the fry venture too far from the parents and disappear.

So I have separated this breeding pair from the rest of the Angelfish and I have put the pair in a breeding tank. However, I cannot get the pair to breed, or even show their breeding tubes. They havent spawned for at least a month or two months, so I wonder why they havent spawned in such a long time.

The breeding tank is as follows:

20-gallon high (this tank is always recommended to me for breeding angelfish)
Bare-bottom
Has plenty of plastic plants, and some areas have more plants than others
Has big-leaf plants
Has a tall piece of slate on an angle
Has a ceramic terr-cotta pot

The Angelfish pair is on a diet of flake foods and brine shrimp.

What should I be doing differently? How can I get them to spawn again?

I would suggest putting them back into the community tank wait till the spawn again and then move them and the what ever they have spawned on
Or just the eggs

Daily cooler water changes of a good 10%, more won't hurt. Try some live food if you can find it, add it when you add the cooler water.

Thanks everyone, they always get excited when I make cool water changes. :)

I think I'll pick up some more live food, just so I can vary their diet some more.

Alright I have the pair on a varied diet of bloodworms, brine shrimp, and flake foods. They always have their breeding tubes out during the day, when the light is on. But whenever I turn the light off before I go to bed, I wake up the next morning to find that their breeding tubes are no longer apparent. But after I turn the light on, a few hours later their breeding tubes will be back out again...

They are always cleaning non-stop, they clean the filter intake tube, the magnet cleaner, the piece of slate, and the terra-cotta ceramic pot, but they haven't spawned.

I don't want to leave their light on all night because I want to make sure they are well-rested. What should I do?

They seem really happy, but they only show breeding tubes in the community tank, even though both tanks have the same water in them. I took the community tank water and put it in the breeding tank. I don't understand why the community tank is so much more appealing to them... do they like having the other fish around??

There is really no difference in the tanks other than the fact that there are no fish to bother them in the breeding tank.

This is all so confusing lol :D What should I be doing now?
