Fish Herder
Well Sparks and flower have settled in nicely and have been fed really well but there are a few things I'd like to know regarding breeding them =]
Right here goes
Flower was already in my 28 gallon tank and while i was sorting out a space for sparks i put him in the breeding trap in there but as soon as they saw each other he flared and she immediatley had vertical lines down her body,
after some debate i decided that i would like to breed them and i have the time and space etc
so i read somewhere that i should let the male see the female for a day or so then take her out and bring her back a day later, so i did and he was flaring at her and building his nest whereas she was getting rounder and more vertical lines. again where i read said that after that i should release the female so i did [as his nest was big and she was no longer scared and quite inquisitive of him] things started off the way i was expecting with a bit of chasing etc as i watched them as i was told it could take some time, she was reluctant to be brought to his nest and hid quite still amoung the plants, everytime he saw her he flared and sort of nudged her but she wasnt having any of it...she after a while i took her out incase it was stressing her as she was a little bit fin nipped =[.....then today i put him in the breeder in the tank so i could clean his tank and she wouldnt leave him alone
am i doing this all wrong? or is it right and im not seeing it?
is there a way that has worked for you guys?
and how can you tell how old they are?
thanks! sorry for the epic post, just let me know if i havent mentioned anything...

I've got 70-80 fry at the mo, so must be doing something right.
