Breeding age?

I have both platy's and guppies and was just wondering at what age they will start to breed. My guppies are still no where near as they are only small and about 1 and a half months old. My platy's are about 4 months and getting quite large, and I was wondering how long it will be before I am over run with them!!!

They can probably breed right now. The chance of the fry surviving is low, though.

what???!! already?? at what age are the fry likely to survive then?

I wouldn't breed the guppies until they are at least 3 months old. Wait until they get to full size. Young females can become overly stressed if they become pregnant. The stress can lead to death or disfiguration. I had a female that gave birth young whose spine became bent. She lived for months afterwards but never straightened out.
