Has anyone on here used the substitute 'Kordon' breathable bags that are available on ebay and other sites.

I've had no success sourcing the original brand.

Thanks in advance.

I've not used them but I have got some laying around somewhere because some duck loving crazy person wanted some shrimp but then changed tank and so the idea was made redundant. I hadn't heard of them before that!

I have a funny feeling shes speaking about me >.>;

Many fish have come in and gone out of here in the past 13 years. Only once has an incoming box used breather bags and never going out.

Some fish should not be shipped in them- pretty much anything that gulps air at the surface- so no labyrinth fish, no corys etc. Nothing that should have pure oxygen added to the bags such as discus.

Finally, my shrimp person uses regular bags and adds either a piece of floss like material or a few stem plants so the shrimp have something they can hold onto, They can't grab onto the bag so they need this.

I can get Kordon bags in the states easily from http://kensfish.com. He ships overseas:

All International orders are shipped USPS only.

Thanks for the replies so far,

I have received fish through the normal post in 'Kordon' bags, I am aware of how they work and what fish are suitable to send in them.

I only need a couple of them to send some Guppies to a friend.

Ordering from the US would be too costly unless ordering in quantity.

What I need to know is, are the other 'makes' a good substitute.

Pete, if I can find the ones I have (its 50/50 chance!), you can have them, I can post em to you if it helps?

That would be a great help, thank you MBOU. There's no rush for you to find them so in your own time would be fine.
