Hi All

I took a trip down to the lfs today to check out thier marine section, well more the live rock really, the pricing was not totally clear but it was priced at £10 a kilo or as it says on the tank? anyway there were a few pieces that priced around £50 and were pretty large, would it be ok to buy a large live rock and break it into a couple of smaller pieces.

Thanks

Andy

Yeah, no reason why not, But its not guaranteed how it will look once you've broken it down. You may well have paid your £50 and ended up with something that looks like a pile of rubble and be left with the thought of "Why did I just do that"
I would be a bit more selective, visualise what you want to achieve, Buy large pieces for the base and then do a bit of chopping up nearer the top of your aquascape with smaller less expensive pieces. Dont forget when you start buying corals they will almost certainly be attached to some rock (sometimes substantial pieces depending on the size of the coral) this you will have to make allowances for.
Regards
BigC

More selective, thanks BigC thats sounds good advice :good: , i think i when i buy mine i might just get it off the net, it seems cheaper, more so in bulk, alltough i can not chose individual pieces, is the internet live rock a good purchase?

Usually, yes :). And if you don't like a particular shape, hammers, chisels, and dremmel tools are always at your disposal :)
