Just got a new 180 litre tank have no idea what to put in it any suggestions? :D :D :D

 that's a little bit too vague. You'll need to give us some rough idea what "type" of fish you like fist. With that 48 Gallons there is a fair few options you have.....

Sorry. I was thinking of either going to livebearer, you know guppys e.t.c or discus. But i don't know much about them and i am quite knew to the hobby. I have been told that they are very hard to keep!

I just don't know about numbers!

If it was me I'd go with a community / New World Cichlid tank, something with top and bottom dwellers maybe like -

4 Keyholes
2 Firemouths
4 Clown Loaches
5 Corys ( Panda or Bandits )
2 Pearl Gouramis
1 Bristlenose Plec

With some good bits of bogwood, rocks and some plants I think you'd have a great tank with that lot.

Im guessing this is a Juwel Rio 180? If so this tank has a length of just 36 inches (3 feet) which somewhat limits the size of the fish you can have due to available swimming space, reasonably large growing fish like clown loaches and firemouths are best left for tanks of 4 feet or more in length.

Sorry, I was thinking the 180 was the same size as my 1200 duo, In that case I agree with CFC, NO Clowns or Firemouths, sorry. :*)

I was going to go this way until i noticed the Vision 200 which is taller and more expensive but i decided it was worth it!

persoanl; i think some kind of african chiclids would look good, i really like the look of them provided you haev a gopod selction for sale near you of course. the many reason i say that is as its the one i won;'t to get next myself, after my amazon one is doen which it to be started 2moro.

What about going for a colorful community? I'd go for 1 opaline gourami, 5 melanotaenia lacustris (turqoise/lake katubu rainbowfish) OR 5 boesmani rainbowfish (melanotaenia boesmani), 1 red tail black shark OR 1 rainbow shark OR 1 flying fox, 3 yo-yo loaches and a trio (1 male/2 females) of mollies OR swordtails. And that would be fully stocked, very colorful (the rainbowfish will be dull in the LFS but they'll color up in time) and balanced over-all with fish at all levels. Do a fishless cycle first (read through the link in my signature) and then add whichever of the livebearers you want to go for first. Use them to mature the tank for a couple of weeks - then start adding the other fish. Add the shark/flying fox last as it is the most territorial.

i think a really intersting tank is one that is set up with lots of diversity. Have you considered invertabrates. with live bearers you could get some ghost and cherry shrimp. or a red claw crab (i would suggest a female less agressive) or if you want something really cool and intersting, y not try a giant african filter shrimp. they are a gental giant and filter the tinyist bits of food from the water with it feather like arms

Yes I have, infact i have allready got a armoured shrimp and gohst shrimp in my other tanks!
Thanks i will probbly put a ghost shrimp in and i will probbly go with the ciclids or the rainbows Thanks

no prob sounds like its gonna be a cool fun tank. i always think that fish tanks shouldnt stop with just fish since in the wild fish always share the water with other things. i think that cherry shrimp are a colourful option to most comunity tanks and are fun to watch them swim and climb.

go shrimp!

I agree go shrimp :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

only prob is that i am on tight budget
but hopefully i will be able to get some! B)
