How is brackish water acheived? Is it simply add the right amount of salt? Do you need any different equipment than freshwater?

By the addition of marine salt (not table :p). I think all you need extra is a hydrometer (sp?) to measure the salinity and you're ready to go.

Theres a few brackish experts on this site (some even wrote books), might be good to reed the brackish stickys as this will give you a good general idea.

Hi rodg98133 :)

I suspect a good place to get the answer to your question is in the Brackish section. I'll move your thread over there for you. :D

Really brackish organisms are more versitle versions of their freshwater and saltwater cousins. Really brackish systems open more doors to fishkeepers. My favorite thing about brackish is excellent biological filtration. In freshwater there are really only bactieria in your filter. With brackish water you can incorporate sponges and cnidarians into your filtration. I have 2 hang on the back filters on each of my tanks. One is hooked up to a refugium I made myself out of a kriter keeper. My filters are heavily modified. I might make a tutorial in the DIY Hardware section, until then I am keeping under wraps.
