Boyu Tl-550

I have just acquired a Boyu TL-550 (128 litres)tank.
It was bought at bargain price and because we liked the shape!

This I believe is a primarily a marine tank but I want to keep freshwater tropical fish in it.
It comes with all sorts of ceramic rings, bio balls, sponge filter, water pump, skimmer???, and complete with instructions that probably make sense to anyone fluent in Chinese, but not me!

Does anyone run a similar tank that could help me with advice in setting this tank up.
What do I need to scrap?
What do I keep?
What else do I need to buy?

Im not trying to start an argument just saying.
Enjoy it as a FW tank and have fun.

Thanks Fishaholic, but from what I have read so far, freshwater will be complicated enough for me!
