well im going to wait till after the holidays then im going to complete my stocking on my 60 gallon, in a bit of a toss up b/c i was gonna do a central American tank, but now as i sit here thinking about it i might do a bunch of apistos decisions decisions. ive had apistos before but never had any luck with them, and i dont know about anyone else but dwarf cichlids where i live are expensive as heck usually more than 15 bucks per fish. (ive seen them as high as 45 bucks each) so not having any luck with a few usually means move on to a different fish. does anyone else have problems with dwarf cichlids? b.c when i kept them my water parameters were fine. i figure im gonna do either 3-5 central american cichlids or a variety of dwarf cichlids

Depends on the type of tank you want. The central Americans are good looking fish, interesting and very hardy- but you cant put many in the same tank. With Apistos you could have 2-3 pairs in a 60 gallon and many other fish as well-eg tetras, corys pencilfish ect so you can keep a much wider variety of fish in the same tank. Both are interesting tanks its all on personal preferences.

well after long deliberation i think im gonna give the dwarf cichlids a go again, like u said dude u can have more of a variety and i think thats what im gonna go for, im gonna try a couple again and if i have no luck again then im gonna go to the central american cichlids

I love apistos, I currently have a pair of aggies in my 180l (see sig) and they spawn regularly but thus far I haven't been able to get the eggs to hatch. I quite fancy adding a pair of trifasciatum, hongsloi, baensch, macmasteri or cacs in the new year but I might need to rethink my scape to avoid ww3 with the aggies. Absolutely fascinating fish and I'm sure you will enjoy them. If you can, try and get them from a breeder.
