Ok well i bought a lighting fixture and it came with lights already which are 96watts 10,000K white and actinic blue bulbs. And I know actinic blue bulbs r not for freshwater but i would have to buy a whole new bulb if which is $36 and right now that money is for my pressurized CO2. Would there be any problem in keeping the actinic bulbs?

Thanx for the help.

I could do that but since i already opened it there would be a restocking fee so i wouldnt get all my money back and that is an issue. Cant i just keep the actinic for a couple months till i get more money.. Its still 96 watts so whats the difference?

Actinic tubes produce a strong light in the UV spectrum & i believe algae uses this but freshwater plants do not so I would think that you will get good algae growth with this. Even 10000k is not recommended in a freswhater tank as it can produce algae due to the cold blue.
