Hey all, I just bought a 3 gallon Eclipse tank. I am planning on getting 2 bettas. My question is, should I get two males and split them up with a divider. Giving them both 1.5 gallons. Or should I get a male and female and put them in the tank together. I don't know much about bettas right now, so I am not sure if a male and female should be in the same tank for a long period of time. Thanks
Trevor

Also, I see alot of betta tanks that dont have heaters, do I need one for my 3 gallon? (stupid question I know, just want to make sure :*) )

Don't get a divider for an Eclipse - it would look ugly for such a nicely designed tank and probably wouldn't fit correctly. Let a male betta be your centerpiece.

I agree with the above poster, BUT if you do still go ahead and do it...no you can't have the male and female in the tank together, They are only suppose to be together when spawning. In many instances the male will kill the female (or vice versa).

But one Betta in the 3 gallon tank would be perfect, rather than splitting it.

Also you asked about heating...if the air temperature where the tank will be varies a lot or drops below 74/75 degrees F, then yes, you should get a heater. Betta's can survive at temps around 70F but they much prefer warmer (78-80F) and will be more active and healthy at the warmer temperature. You can get a 25W heater for the 3 gallon tank (that's what I use in my 2.25 gallon tanks).

Good luck and let us know what you do and post pictures if possible, we love pictures, hehe.
