I am converting my ten gallon tanks into a sand substrate planted tank. Are there any bottom dwelling fish that I can have in there? One of my ten gallons has 1 female guppy and 2 female balloon mollies and four shrimp. The other tank has about 11 baby guppies...it is my fry tank.

The reason I'm asking is because if I ask my lfs they will probably tell me something stupid like I can get 2 or 3 cories...because I know I would have to have at LEAST 6...I don't want to be told something wrong and make wrong decisions because my lfs is trying to sell their products :p

Thanks,
Megan :)

The only fish option would probably be 6 pygmy cories, but I think that would make you overstocked, so that leaves shrimp and snails.

Amano shrimp, red cherry, apple snails...

A group of 6-8 of one of the following would be fine: Corydoras habrosus, Corydoras hastatus and Corydoras pygmaeus.

maybe otos? Someone else would have to confirm.

For otos to work well in a tank, you need to already have a fair amount of algae that they eat.

So I looked to see what kinds of cories my lfs has and besides albino cories and panda cories all they have are sterba's cories...if I could 6 of those would that be too much? I couldn't find any of the others :/

Other than the 3 species I listed there are no others that would be suitable size wise.
