Are you a fish keeper?? Do you live in an area where your Tap water isn't any good?? Well I have thought of this GENIUS beyond GENIUS IDEA!! What if we could just go to to our local fish store and buy water that has just the right conditions for YOUR fish!? They come in 1 gallon 5 gallon 10 gallon and 20 gallon containers of water! But Heres the Special part of the Idea, If Your fish like Soft acidic water, then their will be 1,5,10, or 20 gallon containers of Soft acidic water on a shelf just for you!! and if you need more you just buy them for 1 dollar a gallon. If you have fish that like Medium water and a pH of 7-7-4, then their will be 1,5,10 or 20 gallon containers of that water especially for you!! If your fish like hard, alkaline water or soft alkaline water or hard acidic water or whatever it may be, their will be 1,5,10, or 20 gallon containers just for you!! No more BAD tap water! No more Un happy fish that have to change or " get use to" water that isn't what they prefer because your tap water can't provide it!! You will have stable water that your fish love!! Now isn't that a Brilliant Idea?!

Do you think it would be that easy? If so why has it not been done before? Because there are several factors that spoil your genius idea.

- Water has a shelf life
- It would be an expensive way when you consider water changes on large tanks, even smaller ones to the be fair
- There are so many different types of water to be catered for that it would not be cost effective
- Why pay for something that can be solved in most cases for a fraction of the overal cost
- Water chemistry changes over time so you would have to treat accordingly anyways

These are just a few but i'm sure people will post more...

axleuk you just said everything i was thinking but was figuring out how to say.thanks cause you saved me alot of typing.

whatever, ya'll have no imagination.. I think it would be a good idea so ya'll can just spoil it with your pro smart person talk. You can't just say "hey good idea' you have to find problems with my idea and get rude just to feel good inside. Its a good idea

Yo Homie, just bin chillin wid ya post and ya idea is aight but da flaws make da idea as useful as a choclate fireguard.

Peace

sorry you bigged this up, i was expecting a good idea..

20 gallons = approx 85L which would weigh 85kg :)

it would be expensive because a 20 gallon container would cost quite a bit.
maybe if they had it on tap lol.. and you could bring your own container

sorry still think its a crap idea

1 dollar a gallon is alot?? Well If you had bad tap water and you wanted to buy water that was the kind you needed, this would be a good idea, at least for me I think it is. You don't need to like it but I do, so heres a suggestion, if you don't like the idea then don't post at all. I don't need this!!!

My LFS sell trop water that is just right for most tropicals, the also sell RO water and Pre mixed marine water.

Does your LFS have a website? if they do can you tell me what it is??

In all honesty, he probably has more of a life than you, and is quite reputable here (GO BACTINETTES!!!). This is an open public forum. If you post a suggestion, it is not just for praise -.-. You must recieve criticism, if you cant take that then don't post yourself.

As for the idea i think its worthless. Costs too much and i can get perfectly fine tap water at home.

Axleuk is right, there are way too many different water parameters to cater to everyones needs. Not to mention the weight of all of the water you would need if you have multiple tanks. Cheap solution, go to your local hardware store and buy yourself a 2 or 3 stage water filter. They are considerably cheaper than the filters marketed for the aquarist community, roughly around $50.00.

What's going on here?

Where does the water come from? How do we get it to the desired pH etc?
