Can anyone tell me about Botia Striata please? I am half on the look-out for a bottom dweller for my female betta tank. I was looking through a LFS yesterday and came across these pretty little things. Would they be suitable for my tank (I think from what I’ve read probably not but I thought I’d ask anyway, since I am now curious to know about them). My tank is 14 gallons long (19” long by 14” wide by 12” high); kept around 25-26 celsius, smooth gravel substrate; however I can change it to sand.

Even if they aren’t suitable for my tank, can you shed a little light onto this species for me?

I have three of them in my tank. They are nice fish but love to hide. If you want fish that display themselves in the open then you may like to consider other fish

There loaches not catfish. They get to big for the tank IMO. If you want a catfish i would look for upside down catfish/Synodontis nigriventris
