Hi all,
I won a raffle today at my local fish shop and got around £65 worth of botanicals as a prize.
I was just looking for a little advice and explanation on botanicals and what they do.

Can you post links to the items, or a photo of them so we can see what it is that you have.

You can either use photographic software to reduce the size, or reduce the number of megapixels on your camera/phone and take some more photos. Remember to reset the camera/phone afterwards :)

If the pictures are too big for the website, set the camera's resolution to its lowest setting and take some more. The lower resolution will make the images smaller and they should fit on this website. Check the pictures on your pc and find a couple that are clear and show the problem, and post them here. Make sure you turn the camera's resolution back up after you have taken the pics otherwise all your pictures will be small.

It sounds like you won a voucher for aquarium plants. If so, go to the pet shop and make a list of the plants you like, then post the list here along with details of the light unit above your tank. We can then go through the list of plants and make suggestions on which ones will be ok in your tank.

Plants can help keep the water cleaner and they provide shelter for the fish. They require about 10-12 hours of light per day, and most do better with some sort of aquarium plant fertiliser. However, they can normally be grown without adding any fertilisers.

While you are at the pet shop looking at the plants, ask about their aquarium plant fertilisers and write down the different brands they have. Post that info here too and we can recommend one if you want to try it. But post here before getting anything because some plants sold in shops will not survive underwater, and some fertilisers are not very good.

Hmmm, I has assumed they were some sort of additive :D

If they are plants, that is even better.
