Okay so i bought 2 swordtail yesterday, one blue one orange and white, The blue one has acquired a favourite corner, however all the fish are quite partial to this one, and he keeps chasing them away, and nibbling i think as they tend to jump miles when he makes contact with them, would another swordtail stop this or make it worse??

Okay, now i think he is trying to mate with the orange and white swordtail, he is actively chasing her around the tank, and bending his body next to her, trying to stick his sword tail at her, perhaps i'm reading a little much into this but something very strange is happening, is this just a swordtail ritual of sorts??

Its bizarre

swordfish? like REAL swordfish, saltwater? if so then you need a HUGE tank somwere from 200G+ maybe more

no its not saltwater, its tropical fish, well thats what the lady in the shop said it was called, or it maybe swordtail thinking about it?? sorry doh!! dont know what is wrong with me today

I got the impression they were swordtails actually. Livebearers, the male has a long pointy tail from whihc they get their name.

oh swordtails!!!! oops i thought it said swordfish, my fault i think they are fine, and yeah they mate alot, at least mine did when i had some, then i decided i didnt want them so i only have one know.... :-(
