i had a casuailty tonight... one of my bala sharks died.... his eyes where cloudy and he has loads of little white spots over his body.... i had noticed that the 2 sharks had been flicking against things... I have added new fish 2 weeks ago and I gather from reading what i can find on the net. theres a good chance this is what caused it.... i have raised the temp in the tank as I have read that this well kill the parasites quicker I have also added meds to the tank to kill any other paras in the tank.

boo hoo I'm gutted...

Sorry to hear about your bala shark. If it was whitespot then raising the temperature should help. Was it loads of tiny white spots or fluffy fungus spots?

What size tank is it, what fish and how many of each do you have left?

its a 32 us gallon. i have 1 sm bala shark(needs to go then as they need more then one) i have 6 baby cherry barbs, 3 black widows, 1 harliquin tetra plus 3 other types 1 red eye and 1 neon.

water stats fine and temp raised to 29 is that a ok heat, I usually have it rangeing between 26 and 27.

thanks for the help.

That bala will need to be rehomed since they need at least a 125g with at least 3 of them in the tank. You really should up the number of the tetras since tetras need to be in a group of 5 or more for each type of tetra.

yeah shark is going... i didnt want to over stock and I wasnt sure on amounts.... will tetras shoal with other tetras or do they tend to tick to there own sorts.

They tend to stay with their own kind like if you got black widow tetras and red eyed tetras the black widow tetras would school with them selves and the red eyed tetras would school with them selves and occasionally both kinds of tetras will school together. But after the tetras feel secure they won't school anymore.
