Bolivian Rams

hi all,

i have a pair of bolivian rams which ive had about 6 months now and i think i have one of each sexs as one is larger than the other.

today thou when i got home the larger ram seams to behaving strangly as it has stayed in the corner tucked down by my rena heater for good couple of hours now.

i would like to say its not ill as it seams to be eating off the very very fine gravel and if the other ram goes near it they have there character head butt/ram together.also the gravel in that corner seams to of been brushed around some.just seen that also it seams to be keeping other tank mates out of its space.

any ideas anyone? and hopefuly i wont have a dead ram in the morning.

Probably not what you want to hear but a similar thing happened with my pair. The larger one lasted a few days before I found him dead. I've still got the other one and he's one of my favourite fish, such a great character. To this day I don't know if he was to blame for the death of the other but I decided not to get him a mate just in case.

Edit - didn't read your post properly. You've had them six months. But mine did act strangely a few weeks ago doing what yours is doing. I thought he was either sulking (after a change around of the tank) or ill. A week later he was absolutely fine and back to his old self.

both bolivians fit and well today and it looks like it was eggs as after lights went out last night larger bolivian moved away from corner and one of my cory cats seamed very happy feeding in the gravel in that corner.

glad both bolivians are well but kind of gutted if it was eggs they got eaten as would of been good to have little bolivians to look after.
