I couple of days ago I got 2 bolivian rams. The LFs man says he thinks that he picked a male and female but can't be sure because they are pretty young. I was wonder if anybody can tell if they are male/female. I'm afraid theres quite a few pictures of the one I think is male but the female hids a lot so there's only one, I hope they're good enough.

Male? bigger and brighter coloured, he also settled in quickly

Female?- less black on the top fin, smaller and gets chaced

Also the 'male' is chacing the other a little, I think this is why she is hiding in the back so much (or am I being paranoid?) The 'male' is always up and about- I though cichlids hung nearer the bottom but he often goes to the top and takes flakes from the top too. I also read in a couple places they work well as groups- should I get 2 or so more until they get bigger? how else can I stop the chacing or will it stop on it's own?

I found that sexing my rams is very, very easy. However, yours look much younger then the ones I bought. Keep an eye on their breeder tubes. The females will stick out much more then the males and it becomes very obvious.

where are the breeder tubes? Sorry these are my first cichlids

and any ideas on the chasing?
