I noticed my 2 rams in a lip lock for a few minutes. One was also chasing the other around the tank for a few minutes. I'm assuming that they're fighting because I think I have 2 males, but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone ever noticed this kind of behaviour before?

Thanks

I bought 2 males and had to seperate them within a couple of hours due to one constantly harassing the other one,
I dont know how long you have them but I was advised that it would result in one being stressed to the point of illness/death.
If you have another tank I would seperate them

Yup, that's normal cichlid behavior when sorting out territory disputes.

Can you get your hands on a few more? I know big als always has them anway. It would be best to have several and let a pair form. Like all monogomous cichlids, if they aren't a pair, they're enemies.

I was just at Big Al's today, but I wasn't sure if I should add any more. They had a full tank of Bolivians. I'll have to make another trip back there. :)

but I wasn't sure if I should add any more
Yup, and the additions will be temperary. Once a pair forms you'll need to remove the remainders. Your plan of keeping two was a good one, but the trick is in obtaining a monogmous pair, rather then randomly choosing two specimens. Keep your receipt because big als will give you a full refund if you get lucky and can manage to return them within the set period of time for returns (I forget how long).

Sounds like a plan. Big Al's is pretty good when it comes to returning fish. Thanks.
