Hey guys!

I lost a bolivian ram yesterday :( and the other bolivian ram isnt looking too well either, was suprised he made it though the night, treated the tank with protozin just incase and because I didnt know what to do. However the ram was on the bottom all night, and today he seems to have perked up a little however looking at the underside of him he looks as if hes got almost like bloodworms (but thinner and not moving) that look like hes trying to pass. They look like little red spines almost about a millimeter long and bright red. His breathing is very laboured.

(Trying to put it as politely as possible)

His food is red im feeding them all Tetra prima so I dont really know if its just hes trying to pass some food. Hes not eating either and does look quite thin.

Any help would be grately appreciated!

Thankyou

Lorin

What are your water stats ie ammonia nitrite and pH especially?

How long have you had the rams for?

Has he been off his food for a short or long time?

Sounds like he's passing normal digested food to me but if you only feed tetra prima he may be constipated. Try feeding him a couple of cooked de-skinned peas

if you keep rams you must have atleast 7 different foods to feed them with IMO.

boiled chicken
tender beef

either two of the above once a week

tuna, salmon, every few days

brine shrimp, blood worm, daphnia once every few days

flakes and pellets every few days.

its very important to give rams a varied diet or they will become constipated.

as above cooked peas will help with constipation.
