Hi

When I get my new tank (will be 125L) I'm thinking of maybe getting a pair of these but I needs some more info:

First and most important - will they be compatible with the fish I already have in my 60L which will be being transferred (will be shutting down the 60L). These are Platys, Green Neons, Sparkling Gouramis and Pygmy Corys. I will also be adding a shoal of Harlequins to that and possibly maybe some Honey Gouramis (but that's rally just an idea too).

Supposing they'll be compatible with that stocking (though I have a feeling they won't :( )how is the easiest way to keep them? Singly, male/female pair, female/female pair etc?

Bolivian rams are very peaceful, so assuming the water conditions are compatible, they will be too. They do like to be in pairs, though I'm not sure if genders are a big issue. I have two myself, and I'm not sure what sex they are, but they get along fine, aside from the occasional head butting feud, in which neither of them harm each other.

Of the fish you name, I have green neons and honey gouramis in the same tank as bolivian rams with no problems. I don't have platys, sparkling gouramis or cories though.

all those fish are compatible IMO.

As for a 'pair', if you want to get an actual pair, buy 5 and let two pair up, then rehome the rest. Or, a random pair would probably still work in a 125L (I had a random pair in my 125L for 2yrs - no aggression, just a bit of posturing and occassional chasing).

these guys do well in groups, even if you get 5 and then get a pair, you really dont have to remove the rest. of course that depends on space. Excellent community tank fish and even if they breed they are quite calm defenders of the spawning area. If the tank is 3 foot then i'm pretty sure 4 will do fine together, if its 2.5 foot then a pair would be best. Thats the kinda limit in my eyes.

Thanks for all your help guys. Yeah it's a 2.5 (Fluval Roma) so I guess I'll go for a pair.

My PH tends to stay at around 7.2 (but HAS been 7.6) and my temp is 24[sup]Oc[/sup]. Will that be a prob/need to be altered?

they will be fine in those conditions.

Yay thanks guys. I'm excited now *waits for money for new tank*

good choice! I love my rams (got 6 in a 320L). They are a pleasure to watch.
