I`m struggling to find a pot/pan/vessel big enough to boil my rocks in I`ve asked around with no luck, would pouring boiling water on do the trick ?
What does everyone else use for the job ?

My mates Girlfriends who`s a bit of cook suggested microwaving them for 2 minutes as this was the same as boiling for 20 minutes !!!!

Microwave, microwave microwave!!!!!!!!!!!

Set up your new camera to video record and then post the results!!

You would be my hero!

I saw a pot big enough at a kitchen shop but at £19.95 I didn`t really want to pay for it just to use as a one off to boil rocks in, I even eyed up a paper dustbin at work to do the job !

I will think about it Tanks, I certainly won`t be trying it in my new microwave !

HAH! That would be halarious if the rocks did explode.

I've always just used a "roast pan" it should be deep enough and big enough for what you need it for. I'de use a butane torch underneath it with a large butane bottle. (gets the job done!) J/K!

The roast pan will work though.

I agree with you nick, It does sound very expensieve for a pot for boiling stones. Surley there is someone you know with a big pot? Does somebody around your area have ham at christmas time? cause it take a bloody big pot to par-boil ham. Its a pity you dont live around the corner from me as I would lend you mine.

Another good source of big pots are "old people" they never throw things out, just dont tell them what it is for. Do you know any old people? Perhaps Mammafish would lend you hers!!!!!

I'd just tip a coupla kettles of boiling water over them - that should take care of any creepy crawly stuff .

Rock is inert anyway, not like wood or other matter given to decay. I'm all for good husbandry and looking after your fish and all, but sometimes I think things can get a little overdone!

Just my two-penneth

I'd brace yourself for the backlash on that one by the way Tanks. Brave man! :-(

I'd just put them in a large container and fill it with boiling water. AFAIK most bacteria is killed at around 60-70degC so as long as the water temp is above that it should do the job.

Got a Pot Now from a friend it`s not massive but will do.
Just Boiled the 1st rock about half an hour ago and it`s still too hot to touch, I see what everyone means when they say it takes ages.
I`ll be firing one in the microwave at this rate !

Microwave, microwave microwave!!!!!!!!!!!

Latent heat of rock is quite something! Its worse than boiled potatoes!
