I have just purchased a new piece of bogwood for my fish tank, I have just started to soak it in a bucket with boiling water. Apart from leaving it to soak and changing the water frequently over the next 2 weeks is there a quicker way to take out the tannin?

hi
i got a piece of bogwood at xmas soaked it for 4 weeks boiled it in a large pan for hours and hours soaked it some more and it still makes the water brown,i swear its been 3 months now and the water is still as brown as the day i got it,,,so no more bogwood for me -_-

keep rinsing it over and over it takes ages so i dont use it and it gets fluffy stuff growing on it..well mine did

I've got the wood because I have 2 bristlenoses in my large tank and am going to put the smaller fish in to the other tank. I tried to break up the bogwood in my large tank but did not want to make any more mess so I bought a new piece. I don't mind having the water tanned but I'd rather get rid of most of it before hand.

I've been soaking my mopani root for a couple of days, I just took it out so I can use the bucket. Unfourtunately, the bucket isn't big enough for the wood, so I have to keep rotating it.
