hi
i have got a couple questions about bogwood so here they are.

1) what types of bogwood are there.

2) how do you clean bogwood. is it a mixture of soaking it and boiling it.

3) does all bogwood eventually rot or do only a couple different types rot

1) Yes, but usually you'll only find the mopane (sometimes called mopani) stuff in your LFS.

2) Yep, I never bother boiling it, I usually just leave it out in a bucket of tap water in the garden for a couple of months and change the water when it's gone brown from tannins. That way it shouldn't leach to much when put in the tank. All my bit's are too big to boil anyway, but boiling should speedily remove some of the tannins.

3) It will rot, but very slowly, it's not really worth thinking about. Plecs tend to eat bogwood faster than it rots, and that takes many, many years too.
