was thinking of buying a bit of STRAIGHT HOLLOW MOPANI BOG WOOD for my tank, after reading all the threads about prep, tanin leaking turning your tank in to a tea urn was just wondering if the pros outweigh the cons?? is it worth it?? & what really is the best way to prep it, just boil it repeatedly?

Most of the time it's impossible to boil it. I personally don't have a pot that a 2' long piece of wood will fit in. Most of what you buy has already been sandblasted and cleaned. All you really have to do is soak it to get it waterlogged enough to stay submerged without having to be weighted down (most have a piece of slat attached but that isn't enough). That will also allow tannins to leech out. I personally liked the color that my water in my 75 gallon was right after I put the wood in. It's been in there for 2 years now and so the water is totally clear again and I don't want the hassle of adding the black water extract or stuff like that to get the color back.

thanks for reply m8, think i will give it a miss, just to much hassle !!
