i just bought some bogwood for my tank and soaked it in water for a while. ive now added it to my tank but it floats. how do i stop it floating or will it naturally get heavier once it soaks up more water

You must soak it in water for a few hours first. I soaked mine overnight and it was fine and sank perfectly the very next day. Wood will always float if it's not waterlogged. I was as confused as you until i twigged on.

Cheers,

Pete

ah thank you! that makes sense!
*rushes off to soak in sink*

Some of the new so called bogwood is not as heavy as when I started fishkeeping. If you are finding that the piece of bogwood that you have won't stay in place then Silicone it to a piece of slate and cover the slate with gravel to disguise it.

I used driftwood that I found and even after a week of soaking it still wouldn't sink. All i did was put one of the onraments on top of it for another few weeks and took it off. it stayed perfectly at the bottom of the tank after that!

My driftwood took a month to finally sink by itself. I just put it in the tank with huge rocks on it.
