Thanks for the quick reply Bloo! :) Is the bogwood in the 4th pic the one in your tank with the Amazon Swords in it? It looks more stunning inside the tank, compared to the earlier plain shots.

My 2 Amazon Swords have grown quite well, each of them has around 30 leaves (!) but I'm yet to see any shooters or siblings (if thats what you call them) that I can cut and replant.

I've only been using Sera Florena as the plant fert, but have just got some Sera tablets so I'll put them in and see if that makes a difference! How long do you leave the tablets in there? Do you just let it dissolve or get absorbed by the plant?

Also, which Seachem fert do you use? I've heard that the plant ferts made by Seachem are one of the best on the market, but they make a few different ones I'm not sure which to get.

Sorry for all the questions, hope you don't mind. :D

It's only boring in the sense that there is "generally" nothing else but mopani available in the majority of lfs's - even eBay for that matter. Individual pieces can be gorgeous - but mopani in "general" is big and lumpy and doesn't have much character (in my opinion).

The white stuff is still river sand that I haven't washed off yet when I took the pics.

Mopwani has no character?.....this piece has a face, how much more character do you want heh heh heh

I do prefer the bogwood though I have to say, because we sell bogwood we get to pick the best bits to keep for ourselves, that sinks straight away and doesnt discolour the water atall but the mopwani wood seems to leak them for ages. Ive had a piece in my angel breeding tank that is still leaking colour after over 3 month but I quite like the colour.

Now I laugh! And YOU know why Bloo! Obviously, gorgeous bonafied African bogwood from extensive African vacation isn't enough for you. Nooooo, YOU have to go to a store and buy MORE. :hyper:

You are bogwood obsessed. I think it's time for an intervention.

Great pieces, they look awesome!

This is the second thread in a week where you've made me chuckle. Keep it coming. The "poopy" thread was the other.

llj :D

LOL llj. I think I need help as much if not more than Bloo. I can't seem to look at any piece of wood without imagining how it would look covered with this plant or that moss.
I'm not well.

Awesome find, Bloo.

Yep it is - thanks :)

Oops just realised my current one is acually Kent Freshwater Plant - not cheap :X so guess really I should move on to dry ferts - though this stuff does last for ages and it seems very concentrated, as very little is needed.

haha - I somehow knew this pieces of wood would make it's way into this tread to "prove me wrong" ;) I know your thread well - and that piece is indeed cool :good:

Uhm yes - oops  I have a thing with wood - can anyone tell ? -_-

Sorry I haven't got round to taking pics of the other two large pieces I bough from Namibia - but they are actually stuck in the loft until I can figure out a way to clean them up and sandblast the one side. Buuuuuuut (wait for this ;) ) :

I have a mini version of the two pieces I have in the loft. I spotted it in a handcraft shop. But on asking how much it was, was told it wasn't for sale :-( as it comes from a very remote part (as if everything isn't remote in Namibia anyway!). So we bought this really expensive hand made chess set (wood) and as we paid, I loving cast my eyes onto the little piece of wood I so wanted.
I think the owner got the hint, and after our purchase decided to give it to me as a gift ! It's only small and around 7" or so - so not sure what to do with it or how to use it. Though clearly not by covering it with moss
But oh (I think!) it's soooo pretty
