Hi, had my bogwood washed, scrubbed and boiled. Past 7 days been in a jumbo box in the bath, steaming water about 4 times aday (I have had baths by the way not with the bogwood took it out first  ) It was a nasty colour first few days with the tannin now just like weak tea, soooo is it ready to go into my tank now. Wondered if the weak tea colour might always be there or should I carry on another few days it is day 11 today  . My tank has a blue background and sand bottom I know the fish like tannin I am not too keen on the colour for my tank. Thanks for any suggestions :good:

You will always get a certain amount of tannins leaching out of bogwood, weekly waterchanges go someway to eleviating this to acceptical levels (visual appearance)

What he said ^

Maybe after like years it'll stop tanning :p.. i myself dont mind.. as i find the tanning adds a more natural look to the tank.. but that's just me..

it also depends omn how dense the wood is some will stop leaching tannins after a few months, others it will take years..

we put a large piece in our oscar tank about 4 months ago and the water is only now starting to not look like PEE

Thanks for replies guys :good: Got the log in the tank now, the worst was over and plus everyone says the fish actually like the tannin so that was ok for me. Thanks again :)
