Bought this fella a few days ago, he seems to be have some sort of fungus hanging out of his mouth, its white and its about 1mm if that just hanging out.

What could this be?

Tank Size? Water stats, ammonia, nitrIte etc? How long has the tank been set up?

Rainbowfish (as I think I explained in one of your previous threads?) are prone to mouth fungus/columnaris, its usually a water quality issue and can be cleared up fairly easily if caught quickly enough with good quality large water changes. However, if its taken hold, you may need medication, in the UK, you would need myxazin and Pimafix, in the US its maracyn one and two.

They are in a 125L now, with fully matured water and some filter sponges out of the rekord 70.

Can the disease spread?
