Hi so i have abit of a dilemma.

The tank i had all ready and cycled for my Bettas arrival today had broken. I got my Betaa home and into the tank and then not an hour later the piping out let on the built has bust. Typical after all my work and patience to get it all ready.

I have a tank that will house him until i can get his tank back up and running but it contains 2 young Bristlenoses. Are the BNs hardy enough to cope with living with my new Betta?

But anyway i finally got my Betta. I went with a red with a few blue scales male. Hes lovely is a grmpy character. Dead happy with him so im so dissapointed this happened but i guess it happens to everyone eventually.

Thankyou. Pictures of him will be up soon as hes settled in and not stressed due to the mishaps.

:)
Sorry the piping outlet on the built in filter has bust.

Im on my phone so its hard to see what im typing haha. Sorry if its hard to make sense of.

I don't know if this will help but for 8 months I had a pair of 2.5 gal. tanks planted and the stock for each was a male splendens and 3 panda corys. After 8 months i decided splendens were not for me and i gave them away and moved the 6 corys to the 5.5 gal.with which I replaced the pair of 2.5s.

Plecos are better armored than corys and hide pretty well. My gut is they should be OK, but I would wait for a true betta keeper to chime in on this. I am more of a pleco keeper :)

Ok thanks for telling ne your experience on them. This Betta has been with other fish before i got him. I have plenty of places for them to hide but my BNs are my favourites. But dont want to lose my Betta. When i have the built in filter running is peeng water everywere and blasting it round the tank so my poor Betta gets caught up in a whirlpool :(

Ill see what everyone says and go from there. Either way he cant really be in there. But i dont want to risk him in the tropical community tank.

So frustrating. Just feel like a good cry. Bit that wobt solve anything. I have such a soft spot for all my fish haha.

Awww, so sorry to hear about this! :(
I have cories in with my betta and since TTA says plecos are even better armored..I think it should be fine. Especially if the betta was doing well with other tank mates beforehand.

Thanks, so frustrated right now. At least he will be able to chill in this tank. I keep a close eye on the water quality and im always testing it so i he will be safe and sound in there.
Great thankyou. I think the moves going to happen then tonight as lights will be off anyway so theres no more stress added. Its giod to know that some people have success with Corys. There a fish i love too :)

Ill update in a while when im all done and dusted.

:)

So hes in. Took an interest in the Bns and is now exploring as this tanks bigger than his original home.

I was going to say, yes betta are ok with BN plecs, if mine hadnt of died, I was going to let my betta live with him.

Great thankyou everyone. Hes been fine all night and today. Just got the grumps and not wanting to eat today, but he should settle in and get into the routine soon.

:)

Update

They are gettig along great. My Betta is actually swimming with them.

I actually think he wants to be a BN considering just recently he will eat the cucumber and wafers before acknowloging his own food. So im having to keep my eye on him and hope he doesnt over eat at all.

Struggling to even upload pics but ive taken a good load and the best are ready to come on here soon as.

Thankyou again all.

:)

If you need to you can upload the pictures onto a photo sharing website such as photobucket and then link them here.
I'm glad your BN and betta are getting along! :D Do continue keeping an eye on your betta, they are piggies.

Yeah i think i may have to.

Thankyou. Im so relieved as i thought disaster had struck with his original tank. Hes like a BN the fact that he will give anything edible a try. Haha. Not picky. He didnt even go in a grump with his move as i have had that with Bettas before.

Glad to hear that it worked out nicely.  Plecos and cories are some of the safest tankmates for bettas.  This is because they tend to stay in different spots in the water column and they look nonthreatening to the betta.

Thankyou. Yeah he even swims along the bottom on sand with them and he is happy as larry. Its actually the BN that will now and again give him a warning not to come near their wafers, as i said earlier my Betta will try and munch their food before his own haha. Piggy Betta.

Its good to know for future as well that they can in certain cases live together :)
