hi, i have a brown bn plec in my tank which is about 2 and a half inches long.today i noticed it near the top of the tank lying on my co2 ladder with what looked like clear eggs on her back.there was about 3 or 4.i looked at her underside and it looked bumpy on the sides and also a bump near her gill.what could this be?bit worried.all my water stats are fine.

So she has got eggs on her back, are they stuck to her back, not sure what you mean to be honest.
Does she try to rub on things in the tank.
The eggs can you see whats inside them.
The bump near her gill can you describe the texture and colour of it.

the lumps are just like she got something in her belly.no different colour or anything.the eggs/bubbles were stuck to her back and look clearish one had a stringy thing stuck to it coming from under her where eggs would come from.if that makes sense.lol.

Ok asked colin t to take a look as i'm not sure what going off.
The lump near her gill does it look hard of soft like filled with fluid.

im not at home to check.the lump is about the size of a bb pellet.she looks to have a couple of lumps down both sides.she was resting on the ladder rather than sucking on it or the glass.there is another bn in there but that is only about 2cm.

Do the lumps look like a cluster of berries or resemble a cauliflower.
Pics would be good.

No.
Why do you think that.
If there were neons in the tank with lumps on there bellies maybe yes.
There alot of symtoms to ntd.
Usually begins with bleaching out of the red stripe area.

Well, with the plec being 2 1/2 inches long, my guess is that lacho has not had it very long. Plecs are kept with all manner of fish at an LFS.
Just a stab in the dark

i got it when it was about the size of the other one in the tank.bout 3-4months i think.it was my dads till he got bigger fish so i had it.

I want colin to see if the string being attached to the eggs is from her insides of the fish.
There a list to ntd signs.
Red stripe on neons looks milky in appearance or bleached out.
The blue area on the neon can look yellowish in colour.
Black lining around the red on the fish.
Leaving the shoal and being restless.
Bent spine in some cases.
Lumps that go to a point on the tummy region.
Final stages dropsy and popeye,
Have your plecs ever been kept with neons.

i have 2 neons in the tank but they are fine.i dont seem to have any luck with them as i had 10.

sorry,i have caught the bn and placed it in a net breeding trap till i get home in the morning.when i caught her the eggs/bubbles came of as did the stringy bit.sorry for not explaining properly.

Have they ever shown any of the symtoms of ntd.
