now i have sir lex in a 5g i was wondering if i could put a small bn pleco in. the smallest i have is about 2 1/2cm. would he be ok in there for a while?

It depends how long you plan on keeping him in there. If it's only a few weeks then he'll be fine but long term you'd need a minimum of 15 gallons ideally.
A good alternative would be Ottos but you need to let your tank mature a bit before adding any as they are quite sensitive.

it is a mature tank. ive had my girl guppies and other things in there for quite a while. just needed to make room for lexxy so i moved them out and him in :)

was only thinking of putting him in there for a while. not for too long :)

Oops...sorry, I assumed it was a new set up.
He should be fine but only for a few weeks. Make sure the filter is up to scratch as they tend to produce a lot of waste. :good:

lol its ok fair mistake :)

the filter is good. i dealt with it last night when i got it the girls out and rearranged it for my betta. waste isnt an issue in my small tanks cause i use airline tubing daily to pick up wastes. but it onl for about a month or so anyways. if water stats go nuts etc ill take him out
