I purchased a Blue Spotted Puffer 5 days ago, and it will not come out of hiding and will not eat. I am keeping him with a huma huma trigger, niger trigger, undulated trigger, a banana wrasse, and a small stars and stripes puffer in a 125 gallon tank. What could be the problem? I was told by the store that the fish would be compatable, is this false?

Looks like you've got a tank full of big, mean bastards :hey:

How large are the Undulated and Humuhumu Triggers, and do you know if the Banana wrasse is a Halichoeres or a Thalassoma? There is a good chance that one of them may be threatening the little puffer.

The wrasse is a Thalassoma. All of the triggers are below 3 inches long, and the puffer is 2-1/2 inches. I tried to match the sizes up when i bought the puffer.

Hmm, well Puffers do tend to hide when first introduced. My Green Spotted Puffer, soon after I introduced him, was bitten on the eye by my Niger Trigger (I had just fed them, and the Niger though he was food). The eye fungused over, and during this time, he sat at the back and did not feed. But he soon got over it, and he now feeds ferociously. :)

Remember also that Puffers are nocturnal.

Righto, but I'd be willing to bet he's just hiding out for a while. My puffers I've kept in the past all seemed to stay hidden until they got to know me...then they just sort of dance around waiting for someone to come feed them. How's he holding up now?
