My blue/silver cichlid seems not to be eating. I'm using ground pellets, flaked food and algae wafers for the plec. She seems to go for a piece of flake then spits it out. The other cichlids catch the pellets on their way to the gravel but she can't seem to catch them. Has anyone any advice please?

It would really help to know what kind of cichlid it is. If it is an mbuna, it could Bloat, as one of the first signs is not eating. Are there any other symptoms? Is he lethargic and hiding out? Have you seen him poop? Does it look healthy if you have?

maybe it's just a picky eater, some cichlids like the melanchromis species prefer meaty foods such as brineshrimp, maybe that's the case....

Thanks for the replies.
As far as I know the cichlids are all from lake Tanganyika. The last owner doesn't know what type or which sex they are. Yes he/she does seem a bit lethargic. I dropped a couple of cooked shelled peas in last night, but the frontosa ate them immediately!! :S

Quick update.
My silver blue is now happy happy!!! :D
Found the answer. Tablets which stick to the aquarium glass means she can nibble away to her hearts content. Might help other cichlid keepers.
