My husband has bought a Blue Shark from LFS. They say it will grow to about 8 inches but they seemed lacking with knowledge about feeding etc. My husband said he thought it was some sought of catfish. It is blueish/grey on top and has a white underneath. It does have small whiskers and is about 3 inches long at present. All it seems to want to do is swim against the glass at the front of the tank. It isn't agressive but it justs keeps swimming head up and tail towards the bottom of the tank against the glass. Is this normal :S

If you could post a pic it would help to identify it. Your fish is most probably stressed through moving and new surroundings, that's why it's swimming next to the glass - give him a couple of days and he should settle down.
What size tank is he in?

Just did a search for blue shark catfish and came up with this. Is this what you have, if so he's going to get bigger than 8"

He said he doesn't mind getting a bigger tank than the 5ft one he has already

We finally got an idea that he was a blue cetopsis. He looks like one and is behaving the same as the ones in the LFS. My husband is not sure he should be kept in his present tank and may well have to move him to another tank later. From the various info he is either going to grow to a max of 10.5 inches and be peaceable or he's going to be a holy terror. At the moment he happy and quiet but tanks change. Still no closer on food and care for the fish but hopefully we will find more info over the next few days.

I tried the link. This is for the Black Shark which is also in the same tank. The Blue Shark is a sort of catfish. Also known as a Whale Catfish, Blue Shark, Blue Whale Catfish. It also looks similar to a pseudocetopsis. Thanks anyway.

It wouldn't be a blue bala shark would it? I have seen these at the fish store before. They had different colors such as blue, purple and green. A few years ago I read that these were injected with dye? (anyone know if this is true?) Like some of the tetras you find, like a "candy tetra."

first of all its definetly not a bala if it has whiskers and dying does exist but im against it half the fish die during in it most will die after but its also very painful for the poor fish DO NOT BUY DIED FISH GO AGAINST IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
