My 2 German Blue Rams seem to have white spot - I think. They both have only 1 or 2 tiny white spots that weren't previously there.

How do I treat this? I can't buy a hospital tank right now.

Water stats: Nitrite 0, Ammonia 0, Nitrate 25, ph 7.2, temp 80f.

The fish in my 30g tank are 2 dalmation mollies, 4 platys, 2 bala sharks (I know tank is too small for these guys but we are upgrading soon) 1 red tail shark, 6 tiger barbs, 2 high fin catfish, 1 green phantom plec and the 2 blue rams.

What is the best medicine and how do I do it? Can get treatment tomorrow and the spots have only appeared today. No other fish are affected but will they be?

Help!

You will have to treat the whole tanks for whitespot, only ever had it once with my fish and i used anti whitespot by interpet, though it took two rounds of treatment.
Get the med fast as whitespot can soon kill a fish.
Turn temp up to 30, increase aeration as the med and high temp will reduce 02 in the water, also don't forget to remove black carbon if you use it.
Read instructions carefully as sometimes with certain meds you have to half dose with certain fish.

Thanks! (again!)

Gonna get the meds first thing tomorrow. Is it a good idea to do a large (50%?) water change before we do the meds? Should we gravel vac as well and if so how much of the gravel - don't want to vac up all the good bacteria?

Same problem here, grrrr.

What does removing the black carbon sponge acheive - and what about aeration? I have a Juwel tank with no option to increase flow. Should I remove the CO2 system for the time being?

You have to remove the black carbon sponge as thats for removing chemicals from your tank, you don't even need to have it in the tank is a waste of money, only have some on hand when you have to remove meds from the tank.
You have to increase aeration with a airpump and airtsone attached as meds and the high temp will reduce 02 in the water.

Not sure about the C02 system you will have to ask that question in tropical chit chat.

Thanks.
Got to wait til tomorrow now before I can get any meds.
Will up the temp and do a water change.

Is it ok to up the temp 24 hrs before being able to administer meds?

Yes you can, but do you have enough aeration in the tank, i would invest in a pump and airstone.

Use marine salt, 1 tablespoon per every 2 gallons of water turn up your temp to 81*c for 12 to 14 days doing only small 20% water changes.

Don't add salt if you have scaless fish in the tank.

I do Oto's count? Scaleless / averse to salt?

I can't get either marine salt or aeration until Saturday anyway. (I have a friend from work getting me meds tomorrow).

No salt then plec are scaless fish.
Bit worried if there in not enough aeration in the tank that all as the med and high temp you really need to increase it.

Hmm - I'm worried too now as is only a small tank (60L)

Could my adding a CO2 ladder to the tank tis week have caused the onset of this?

Will go get some test results...

I have a rekord 60 juwel tank that a 12gal, i ripped the box out as i wasn't happy with the powerhead, as it hardly rippled the surface, if you do get the med, i think i would only go in with have dose till you can get some aeration going in the tank with a airpump and airstone.
